Today, HP is the global market leader in the printer and copier industry with almost 40% market share. With decades of knowledge in the field of printerst, HP is able to offer printers and copiers in all variations. The offer ranges from simple A4 inkjet printers to complex plotting and 3D technology. Our online printer consultant can help you find the right printer for your requirements.

What is an A3 Printer?

An A3 printer is basically identical to an standart printer which prints on an A4 format. A3 printers offers the possibility to print documents in a larger format. A3 printers are usually slightly bigger and require more space in the office.

Comparison of format sizes:
  • A4 - 210 x 297 mm, 8.27 x 11.69 inches
  • A3 - 297 x 420 mm, 11.69 x 16.53 inches

Which HP A3 Printer would be my best Choice?

HP A3 Inkjet Printers:

As the name suggests, inkjet printers print with ink which comes in cartridges. The CMYK color palette (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) is used. Inkjet printer cartridges are available either as a combination package with all four colors or as individual color cartridges. The advantage of individual color cartridges is, that when one color cartridge is empty only this one cartridge can be replaced. When a combination color cartridge is used the entire cartridge set has to be replaced, even when not every color is running low. Inkjet printers are easy to use and maintain. Apart from replacing the ink, they are low-maintenance and inexpensive in purchase.

A disadvantage with inkjet printers is that ink cartidges are relatively expensive in comparison. At the same time, you will have to use the printer regularly, otherwise the ink will dry up and clog the print heads and the cartridges need to be replaced, although the ink level would still be sufficient.

HP A3 Laser Printers:

While inkjet printers work with ink, laser printers need toner. Toner is color dust, which is applied to the paper by using heat and a drum. The use of heat means of cause that laser printers cannot print on heat-sensitive material. It must always be ensured that the paper or material to be printed on is suitable for laser printers.

Compared to inkjet printers, laser printers are more expensive to buy, especially if you want to print in color and on larger paper formats. The advantages of the laser printing technology are a higher printing speed, inexpensive toner and because there is no liquid ink used for printing, no damage to the paper by moisture.

HP A3 Multifunction Printers:

Inkjet printer or laser printer, both print technologies are available for different paper formats and as multifunction printers which combine several work processes in one device. Scanning, printing, copying and often even faxing, one multifunction printer can combine three or four devices in one, which significantly increases user comfort and reduces both purchase and operating costs.

Finding the right Print Format

A4 Printers

The most common printer model in private households is an A4 inkjet printer. Space requirement and acquisition costs for A4 printers are low. Inkjet printers hardly need any maintenance work and technical knowledge is also not required. Offices and companies prefere A4 laser printers due to lower running costs.

A3 Printers

A3 printers are often used at graphic design companies, architects and technical offices due to the larger print format. The advantage is that A3 printers are also able to print smaller formats (including A4).

Plotters

Equippable with paper rolls of various sizes, plotters can print large-format plans. The roll width varies from model to model, the length is determined by the user. Due to the diffrences in the two printing technologies, plotters are designed as inkjet printers.
